Research description: I am a broadly-trained anthropologist, a human biologist, whose research addresses cultural, behavioral and biological aspects of human health. I am an Associate Research Scientist in the College of Public Health, University of Iowa and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology. During my career, I have worked as an independent researcher, project leader and team member at academic and for-profit institutions—successfully applying my training to basic and applied research in anthropology, medicine and public health. I have over 30 years of methodological and statistical programming experience and have worked with a variety of data types and data sources (e.g., clinical, prospective cross-sectional, state and national surveys). I have extensive clinical, community, field, laboratory, and survey research experience, broad administrative experience, and a long history of productive interdisciplinary research. Since April 2007, I have been a member of the University of Iowa’s Healthier Workforce Center serving initially as a data analyst and most recently, as Deputy Director and Director of Evaluation.
