Research description: I am interested in the evolution of apes and hominins. I study mostly postcranial anatomy, although also have a collaborative grant studying the form and function of the early hominin mandibles. I am co-leader with Fredrick Manthi and Mike Plavcan of the West Turkana Paleo Project, doing paleontological field research at Pliocene and Pleistocene sites in northern Kenya. I have a large project to quantify and interpret the structure and evolution of the hominoid torso. I work with landmark and non-landmark based 3D analysis of fossils and comparative extant specimens using surface model and CT data.
