Research description: My dissertation work focused on understanding the costs and benefits of sociality using the semi-solitary orangutan as my study system. I am now interested in exploring the mechanisms underlying changes in social behavior over the life span and in the links between sociality and health in primates. I am monitoring the parasite infection patterns of the orangutans in Gunung Palung National Park over time to determine what factors interact to influence this measure of health.
